Early Childhood Intervention Services

Aim

To provide families with the knowledge, skills and support to meet the needs of the needs of their child with a disability or developmental delay and to optimise the child's development and ability to participate in family and community life.

Participants

Children with a disability or developmental delay, their families and other professional sinvolved in supporting the family.

Description

The Early Childhood Intervention Service provides a range of specialist services which may include: specific therapy assessment, individual or group programs, family support, sibling programs, family service coordination, consultancy and support to community based settings like kindergarten and childcare, preparation and support around transition to kindergarten and school, parent education programs, professional reports and assistance with funding applications.

Qualified staff include: Social Workers, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Educational Advisors.

Support will be based upon individual need and will not be the same for each child and family.

 

Eligibility

Eligibility will be determined by the Department of Education and Early Childhood (DEECD) central intake service.

Children with severe and complex disability or developmental delay aged from birth to school age are eligible.

Fees

There are no fees for this service.
