Grampians Regional Communication Service

Aim

To assist people who are unable to communicate effectively using speech alone and the people they communicate with to use different forms of communication such as gestures or signs; communication devices; photos and/or symbols and to raise community awareness and capacity to include people with complex communication needs.

Participants

People with complex communication needs aged 18 to 65

Description

People who are unable to communicate effectively using speech alone have ‘complex communication needs'. We provide information, training and resources to service providers to support individuals to communicate effectively and to participate in their own communities

Eligibility

Adults with complex communication needs aged from 18 to 64.
Anyone interested in learning about complex communication needs, such as:

  • Family and friends
  • Shop owners and Tourism operators
  • Disability agencies and community groups
  • Sporting groups
  • Hospitals and Community Heath Centres

In the following Local Government Areas:

  • Golden Plains
  • Moorabool
  • Ballarat
  • Hepburn
  • Pyrenees
  • Ararat
  • Horsham
  • Northern Grampians
  • West Wimmera
  • Hindmarsh
  • Yarriambiack

Fees

There is no charge for this service.

Referral Information

Anyone can make a referral as long as the family has given its consent.

Referrals are lodged through the Connecting Care website.
