This provides packages of assistance to support the inclusion of children with severe and complex disabilities to take part in a funded kindergarten program. Inclusion respects individuality and diversity of each child and promotes their learning, development and wellbeing.
Children with severe and complex disabilities attending kindergarten, their families, kindergarten staff and early childhood specialists supporting the kindergarten placement.
The Kindergarten Inclusion Support Services package encourages an inclusive program and allows all children eligible to attend kindergarten opportunities to access and participate in the kindergarten program. Support is often provided in the form of resources, equipment and an additional assistant. The additional assistant in kindergarten is allcoated to provide support to the teacher and the whole group and not just for the child with severe and complex needs.
Eligibility and support through this program is determined by a Regional Advisory Group through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Children must have a severe and complex disability and be attending a state funded kindergarten program.
There are no charges for this service.
Applications to access this program are completed by the kindergarten teacher, usually in the year prior to the child commencing the state funded kindergarten program. Talk to your kindergarten teacher prior to enrolment.
