Aim

Being the parent or carer of a person with a disability holds it's own challenges and joys. Pinarc knows that for some people, parenting a person with a disability can feel like an isolating experience. The Parent Support Groups give parents and carers an opportunity to:

  • Share their experiences and learn from each other
  • Form friendships and make connections with each other
  • Hear about local services and events related to caring for someone with a disabiilty
  • Gain information about specific disabilities and issues related to caring
  • Socialise with each other

Pinarc's aim is to help a group become self sufficient. Groups work best when the participants take and active role in helping direct and organise the group. That way it is really "their" group!

Participants
